AFAIK, /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/xorg{,.lst,.xml} are symlinks to the real xkb rules in used by default and ppl can change the file it links to to change xkb rules. However since these files are not in the backup list, any change will be overwritten by any upgrade of the package. I know /usr/share is not the best place for backup list but afaik this is how xkb setting currently working and I don't know any other way to add custom rules to xkb settings THX P.S. another solution (if backup files outside /etc doesn't sound a good idea) is to remove these files from the package and create them on install/upgrade if they are not already there. (hoping that the default rules will not change upstream~) Additional info: * package version(s) * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: |

I don't think it's a proper place to edit anything. If some keyboards needs to be changed report this upstream.
