the install script attempts to update the mime using the comamnd "update-desktop-database" which is part of the desktop-file-utils package but the latter is not required to be installed by the package.

output from "pacman -S scribus" without desktop-file-utils installed:

installing scribus... done.
update desktop mime database...
/var/lib/pacman/local/scribus-1.3.0-1/install: line 5: update-desktop-database: command not found

Fixed in the testing build...
where it is rebuild against gcc-4 and the new qt
