DetailsDescription:
Running the file hash programs (md5sum, sha1sum, sha256sum, sha512sum) may return random result for some files? I believe this is critical since pacman (and a lot of other things) uses the hash functions to check for file integrity. Additional info: * linux 3.3.4-2 * linux 3.3.1-1 (not as bad as 3.3.4, but still occurs) * coreutils 8.16-2 Hardware-related: * AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor * amd-ucode 2012.01.17-2 Steps to reproduce: Hard to reproduce... Testing on various large files 40MB+ reveals the problem more often than smaller files. Can't guarantee anything, but you can use my 'sumtest.sh' pass it a file path. It does a hash once, then loop 30 times checking the results of subsequent hashes. |
This task depends upon
sumtest-3.3.4.lst
EDIT:
Well I didn't actually think of any hardware problems until the end of the day. So yea.. bad RAM after spending the whole day on this issue.
