About the default theme, maybe it is more Xfce-ish to use the "Xfce" theme provided by gtk2-xfce-engine and drop/optional gtk-engines. It is not a heavy dependency, but definitely not required for Xfce.

Gnome-icon-theme is pretty heavy for Xfce too, but since tango is not in the repo's it's probably the best default (hint: Feanza).

I find Clearlooks more aesthetically pleasing, and for this reason I've kept it as the default theme.

I did drop the dependency on gtk2-xfce-engine though, since it's not required by xfce4-settings (like gtk-engines is due to the default theme choice.)

(gtk-xfce-engine was originally added as a dep to provide more theme options out of the box. However, since it's included in the xfce4 group, it'll get installed as part of a normal Xfce installation. Therefore, there isn't a need for a hard dep from xfce4-settings.)
