DetailsThe current version of libmp4v2 provides /usr/lib/libmp4v2.so.2, which is newer than the one easytag needs. Unluckily, easytag doesn't compile with the version available in [extra] and there's no newer version that supports it.

Anyhow, after the update easytag works fine again, thanks Tom!
FWIW: we are now back at plain libmp4v2-0.9.1 which has a known bug (see their website). The problem was caused by shipping the snapshot that upstream recommends, but which apparently does not work well with other projects. I'll leave this alone for the time being until upstream makes another proper release.
