Details

Description: I recently upgraded and now GDM and gnome-shell are not working.

When I do:
rc.d start gdm

I get this output:

** (gdm-binary:1523): WARNING **: Failed to acquire org.gnome.DisplayManager
** (gdm-binary:1523): WARNING **: Could not acquire name; bailing out

I think gdm does start on boot however. It doesn't look like the normal gdm that I am used to (I know this is a poor description but I don't know of a better way to describe it). When I log in I get my background but none of the gnome-shell UI.

I realize you might need more information but I'm not sure what information you need, just tell me and I'll gladly get it for you.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
gnome-shell: 3.4.1-1
gdm: 3.4.1-2

* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:

I attempted to reinstall both.

pacman -R gnome-shell
pacman -R gdm

pacman -S gnome-shell
pacman -S gdm

But same issue.

gnome-shell: error while loading shared libraries: libgcr-3.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

you either did a partial upgrade or used pacman -Syuf

solution: reinstall gcr

I did use force.

Reinstalling gcr did the trick. Thank you!
