DetailsDescription:
The Octave team recently stopped bundling ARPACK with Octave. Because of this, the 'eigs' function for finding a fixed number of eigenvalues of large matrices is not available. Trying to use 'eigs' results in this output: "error: eigs: not available in this version of Octave" Apparently, ARPACK is needed at compile-time, so just installing community/arpack has no effect. Compiling Octave locally with ABS using the same PKGBUILD only with added 'arpack' dependency and arpack installed produces a working version. No special flags are necessary, only arpack has to be installed while building the package. Note that this adds a hard dependency, and octave won't run if the arpack library is later removed. Additional info: * package version: octave 3.6.1-2 Steps to reproduce: Install octave, open it, try to use the 'eigs' or 'svds' functions. |
