I forgot to mention that xorg-8.2-2 works just fine; I get 1280x1024 resolution whereas with xorg-8.2-3 I got 640x480. Heres a line from the Xorg.log file with version 8.2-3 that looks just a little bogus:
(1280x1024,S73) mode clock 100000MHz exceeds DDC maximum 110MHz

got the same problem here, with an intel 865G chipset.

This must have been caused by the OpenGL/i8xx update patch I took from Ubuntu. Too bad it doesn't work, I'll revert it soon with a -4 release.

m... I'm having trouble with this. Since new cairo needs this release of xorg, I can't update my system. Whenever I try pacman -Syu, it gives me this error:
cairo requires xorg, but it is in IgnorePkg. Install anyway? [Y/n] n
error: cannot resolve dependencies for "cairo"

Could you please upload the new xorg?

The cairo in testing is patched to remove a workaround for a bug that has been fixed in xorg 6.8.2-3. Without the bugfix or the workaround, cairo has rendering issues.
I left the -1 version on FTP for this, but the -2 is in testing.

Please test the new xorg version I put up in testing. I replaced the two problematic patches by a patch from mandriva, I think it should be okay now but I don't have intel hardware to test.

I was away from my computer for a couple of weeks and so was only able to test the xorg-6.8.2-5 package today. It works just fine, though it seems to have "stretched" the horizontal display just slightly. No problem though, and thank you for your work. As far as I'm concerned you may now re-close this item.
