Trying to start up blender crashes unless I set up the following symlinks:

/usr/lib/libx264.so.118 -> libx264.so.120
/usr/lib/libvpx.so.0 -> libvpx.so.1

I noticed x264 and libvpx aren't in the dependency list on blender's package page, so I'm guessing this is just an oversight!
This task depends upon

blender depends on ffmpeg and ffmpeg depends on x264 and libvpx.
Are you sure you're using ffmpeg from the repos? Can't reproduce your problems on my 32-bit Arch.

Aha, looks like it's probably problem with the ffmpeg package on x86_64. I tried running ffmpeg2theora and got the same errors. Thanks! You can close this and I'll open another one for ffmpeg.
