Details
Description:
After installing the latest version 1.15-1 (Build Date: 2012-03-19 20:48 UTC), the bootchartd has disappeared from the /sbin/ , and is now in /usr/bin/bootchartd This is causing an issue at booting if using the parameter "init=/sbin/bootchartd" also noted in the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bootchart At boot, the init simply drops in the shell, logged as root with an error msg, that the /sbin/bootchart is missing. I don't know if the /sbin/bootchartd disappeared on purpose, but either create an symbolic link to /usr/bin/bootchartd so the /sbin/bootchartd exist as link , or update the wiki to the new path. thx. Additional info: ver - 1.15-1 Steps to reproduce: Simply install the latest version, apply the parameter "init=/sbin/bootchartd" to your grub, and reboot. |

1.15 is the first version of bootchart that we have shipped, so the tool did not in fact move, it has always been (and will always be) at /usr/bin. The confusion probably stems from there being a different unsupported tool called "bootchart" in the AUR. However, this is a different piece of software and is not compatible in any way with the new tool (though the obviously perform a similar task).
I was not aware of the wiki page so thanks for the pointer. I guess it might make sense to rewrite it to be about the new tool, or to contain separate sections on both tools. The original version of bootchart is no longer maintained, and afaik there is no reason to use it over the new version.
