Description:

Building xmms2 without the "--with-optionals" flag, builds the xmms2-et, xmms2-find-avahi, xmms2-mdns-avahi and xmms2-mlib-updater clients by default as every plugin is built if its dependencies as detected by the build system.

Also the xmms2-mlib-client is necessary to keep xmms2's media library in sync with the changes on the file system. Without it the media library has to opdated by hand for every changed file; for example when it's tags are updated.

As for additional dependencies:
xmms2-*-avahi would require avahi in make- and optdepends.
xmms2-{et,mlib-updater} are linked against glib, as xmms2d and xmms2 are already. However it is missing from depends.
