the kernel logo which is merged into the kernel source only is applicable for 256 colors and up framebuffers. if someone uses only 16 colors the default penguin is displayed. :)

Damir, you gave me the .ppm we use now. Can you make a 16-color one as well?

sure, if there is a need for it ... while editing the first to be 256 colours i was asking myself who needs 16 or 2 colours and therefore didn't provide it from the start.

16 colour arch logo is ready and will be in next kernel26mm. i will also attach it here to this bug

however i have no idea how to test it. anybody knows what parameter i have to pass the kernel at boottime to switch to 16 colour mode?

i had to change the attached logo - it had an optimised palette as base for creation whereas the kernel needs an image based on the console colours palette
(that can be found in the kernel sources under drivers/video/logo/clut_vga16.ppm ... good to know! ;-)

kernel26mm works fine with the new pic (in cvs in extra/kernels/kernel26mm as logo_linux_vga16.ppm)
