The introductory paragraph on archlinux.org contains
colloquial expressions:
"Our strong community is diverse and helpful, and we pride ourselves on the range of skillsets and uses for Arch that stem from it. Please check out our forums and mailing lists to get your feet wet. Also glance through our wiki if you want to learn more about Arch." Suggest changing this to something simpler for non-native English speakers, for example: "We invite you to learn more about Arch on our Wiki. An active and helpful support community can be found on the Forums and mailing lists." |

As a non-native speaker, I strongly disbelieve that dumbing down
our English is the way to go. We should not be limited in the use
of whatever language we choose; there exist Arch Linux communities
and websites in other languages for those who have problems with
English.
I disagree. This has nothing to do with "dumbing down". It's
entirely about about the best way to achieve effective
communication. There are situations in which entertaining,
colloquial English is appropriate and other situations in which
simple, clear English is better. Introducing a Linux distribution
to a world-wide audience would argue for the latter.
Seriously? We're not selling anything here...
