There has been a more up-to-date and featured traceroute floating around at http://traceroute.sourceforge.net/ for a while now. It's being used in Gentoo (which is how I noticed this, I was reading the manpage on Gentoo for using the TCP method, while performing a [failing] traceroute on an Arch Linux box), Debian, RHEL and more. Any chance we could get this into core/ip-utils?
