I've noticed this after reboot when framebuffer refused to come up...

xduugu: but why??? these are just few little modules and theres no reason for removing them as long as nobody forces you to load them...

what does "(as wished on mailinglist)" means? i can't find the mails...

What i am supposed to do if i want framebuffer to get hi-res terminal on my sis graphics adapter console? Note that i can't use any generic vesa driver because the laptop don't have LCD with standard vesa resolution...

That[1] was the mail (and the follow-ups) where this change was proposed. I don't have a solution for you, at least none that does not imply rebuilding the kernel, just wanted to inform you about the background of the removal.

hmm... uvesafb can't set 1280x800-32 on my sis. but at least it can set simillar resolution (causing distorted image on lcd) which is good enough for editing configuration files...
