Do you have cairo installed?

Yes, cairo is already installed. I tried to compile hwloc from source and it works. That's why I wrote this bug report.

Can you give me a command I can use to try to get a graphical output?

Just run lstopo.

Yes, according to the man page it should work (I do have DISPLAY set), but it doesn't. I can output to *.fig, but I can't use png, pdf etc.

Rebuilding it from ABS fixed the issue.

'lstopo -h' output changed too, from
Supported output file formats: console, txt, fig, xml, synthetic
to
Supported output file formats: console, txt, fig, pdf, ps, png, svg, xml, synthetic

Exporting to png etc. works now.

I tried it (and it works), thank you. But is it possible to have a package compiled with cairo ?

I think it will use cairo if you have it installed. For some reason the current package wasn't built this way.
I think the maintainer needs to only rebuild the package.
