Detailsmoreutils and parallel conflict because of /usr/bin/parallel and the man pages
associated. The one in community/parallel have a lot more features than the one provided by community/moreutils and it can provide a complete replacement (with a different syntax) that the one in moreutils. For example moreutils: parallel -j 3 echo -- 1 2 3 4 parallel: parallel -j 3 echo ::: 1 2 3 4 But moreutils have a lot of other utils that are very useful. I like to install both and I think this can be useful. I propose to rename /usr/bin/parallel in one of then (as a precedence, community/mupdf do the same thing because of conflicts with extra/popper). Now, gnu parallel (the one packaged as community/parallel) have a configure option to add a prefix or suffix, I used this when the package are in aur, e.g., `--program-prefix=g` change the binary to /usr/bin/gparallel *and* the man pages also. Clean. I prefer to change the name of the version with less features, i.e., the one in community/moreutils. But moreutils is older in the repo, so it can have a name priority. What you guys think? |
This task depends upon
