After upgrading from kdebase-3.4.1-1 to kdebase-3.4.1-2, there are many problems with all application frames in KDE. On initialization, a large number of the same type of crash are reported; and the normal application frame that surrounds all applications disappears. Konsole has the further problem that clicking inside it does not give it focus (and thereby renders it useless).

Do you have any unofficial KDE extensions installed?

This package has been in testing for 2 weeks now, I never had any problems with it, neither did I hear about problems from tpowa when he tested it last week.

I have a standard, up-to-date KDE 3.4.1 package set with no special extensions. The upgrade was performed by first performing 'init 3' and then performing 'init 5' after the package installed succesfully. I did a re-installation with the same results. I've downgraded to kdebase-3.4.1-1 and the graphics work correctly. I'll confirm that I still have a problem after I re-install carefully; and will report more specifically what crash errors are provided by KDE.

I've just rebooted and re-upgraded as described previously. Good news. The problem has apparently gone away. My only concern now is why the problem arose in the first place. KDE otherwise appears stable for now.

Could be something was still running in the meanwhile. When you logout from KDE, many things don't exit cleanly and keep running.
