Description:
Oolite renders some objects as white-space, this does not occur with the version downloaded from the oolite web site, only with the 32 bit package installed via pacman.
Also, A warning about multi-threading and GNUSTEP does not appear with the version downloaded from the oolite web site (strange but a possible coincidence?)

heres the post from the oolite forums concerning this.

Reason for closing:  Upstream

As you can see there is no strange stuff in here: http://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk/PKGBUILD?h=packages/oolite

As far as I am concerned, this is an upstream problem. Try building your own oolite and see how it runs. This might be due to libpng 1.5.

Intresting, I am curious as to how it is upstream? Just to be clear, the all white texture effect is only present in the build that is offered via pacman.

My understanding of the defintion of "upstream" means it lies in the sources of the original source code, yet i find it odd that the build from the oolite web site does not have said issues.

The build from the oolite website at the following url does not exibit the all white texture effect when rendering the cobra mkiii or nav buoy textures.

http://prdownload.berlios.de/oolite-linux/oolite-1.76.linux-x86.tgz

I feel the squiggles effect noted on 2 other textures has something to do with opengl as i found I was able to get the same effect when rendering a video via youtube with the following command line option with the chromium web browser.

chromium --ignore-gpu-blacklist

I have attached a picture of said effect, it seems to only affect videos played with html5 and only with the above command line option.

Videos played with flash DO NOT exhibit this strange visual noise effect.

lspci output for reference.

I say this is upstream (the people who make software) in either mesa (likely) or oolite because they probably built their static package with really old libs. In Arch we use really recent libs and it might lead to breakage with software whose devs don't use a very up to date system. Also, since you got an Intel card, no 3D graphics should be trusted anyway. I told upstream about this but you are most likely much better off posting this bug on their tracker. I'm closing this bug for now. Please send a reopen request if upstream says that I caused the problem due to the packaging.
