Details

1. After you install your base OS, "nano" is NOT getting installed in the system. It exists in the CD as a package, but it doesn't get installed. Please add it in the installation group that gets on the hard drive at the end.

2. Please include wget in the base. A few days ago a friend of mine wanted me to install arch for him, and I couldn't find the 0.7 CD, I only found my 0.6 CD. After installing the OS, the problem was that pacman's paths have changed in the download server and so I could not bring the system to -Current. The obvious solution (because there is no ftp/samba installed either) is to use wget to download the new pacman version, install it locally, and then upgrade to -Current. But there was no wget either there and could not install it via 'pacman -S wget' because as I said, the paths have changed since then in your FTP servers.

So, please, either include the GNU ftp client by default in the -base, or include wget in there, because if older basic installations need to upgrade, they will found themselves in the bad situation of chicken and the egg.

Hi Eugenia,

1. Very strange, it installs fine for me, like the rest of Base.

2. wget is already in Base.

1. I had the problem with both 0.6 and 0.7. Nano was available to use during installation, but not after the installation took place (after booting the newly installaed system).

2. Did wget got part of the main installation CD on 0.7? Because it definately was not part of 0.6 the other day.

[judd@dragon ~]$ egrep 'wget|nano' /home/ftp/0.6/os/i686/setup/packages.txt
editors/nano-1.2.2-1.pkg.tar.gz
network/wget-1.9.1-1.pkg.tar.gz

Yes, neither were in Base in 0.6, just 0.7
