oh wow yikes, wasn't careful with the upgrade from 0.73 to 0.74 as it's unlike of gaim to screw you like THAT. big red flag here, will sort it asap

In the gaim 0.74-1 package is the same situation. I don't understand how can be in an package files belonging to the root directory?! I repackaged the gaim from /var/abs/network/gaim and the files are going in /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.2/i686-linux/ and not in the root directory! So the PKGBUILD is correct except that is missing the perl dependency. Probably this is causing the misterious bug. If you are building your packages as a normal user (with the fakeroot) than never can happen to write in directories where you don't have permissions. And it's recomended to browse your .filelist file before you release the package :-) You can catch this bugs.

Okay, yeah found the problem. it's Gaim's fault. They don't like the latest version of a certain module. I synced perl and it built fine, then i upgraded all modules to latest via cpan. Then built again and died. I'll do it again one by one and find out which one.

Package namespace installed latest in CPAN file
ExtUtils::Command 1.05 1.07 M/MS/MSCHWERN/ExtUtils-MakeMaker-6.21.tar.gz

That's the one.. it doesn't like ExtUtils::Command-1.07
gaim compiles fine with 1.05 but installs stuff in / with 1.07 and it looks like the 1.07 changes Config.pm too.
