you should take care of your AUR builds that replaced official packages

hint: cairo-* variants
hint: pacman -Qm

Ionut,

Here's the output of pacman -Qm:
--
elegant-brit-gtk3-theme 20111114-1
emacs-color-theme 6.6.0-7
gtk-engine-unico 1.0.1-2
gtk-theme-hope 20120109-2
jed 0.99.19-2
libpng14 1.4.8-1
pam_ssh 1.97-3
zukitwo-themes 20111229-1

Note that libpng14 is installed only after the firefox-10 failure I mentioned before.

The only other package that could be relevant here is cairo-xcb which I pulled from the [archlinuxfr] repository (for the awesome window manager). But I can't imagine how it got intermingled with libpng14 because prior to today, my system doesn't even have libpng14.

ok then. archlinuxfr is a 3rd party repo and they have to rebuild that stuff. we do not support it.

until they compile it, you should do it manually instead of mixing libs that are compiled with libpng 1.5 support and libpng14
