Details

Description:
using a filemanager build in GTK(2,3} the description of the size for / is arount Terabites in a -HD around the Gigabites

Steps to reproduce:
1 - open a filemanager build in GTK2 or GTK3 (like Nautilus, Thunar, PCmanFM)
2 - travel to / directory
3 - See properties of the directory
4 - Wait and see the size
5 - compare w a df -h output

Additional info:
* package version(s)
all GTK build filemanager
* config and/or log files etc.
a freshintall only w minimal for running (thunar, PCmanFM,Nautilus) respectivley and theys respectivelys environments, in all cases udev-compat in a Linux-{3.1,3.2} kernels and upower and udisks is intaled

Tested here, nautilus just traverses all directories it can read. If nautilus doesn't have permission for a directory, it won't show the size taken by that directory. Besides that, nautilus doesn't just stop at one mountpoint, but also traverses other mountpoints like /home. I don't consider this a bug at all, as this is just how nautilus displays the size of a directory.

but this happend to in PCManFM and Thunar
and if less believerable that all tose tree use the same form and make the same result

and if I summing over values not pass the 500GB, "df -h" got the real value
and finaly a possible solution is fix the max value to the size of the HardDrive (or simply removing this if the / directory is the directory that is seeing theyrs properties)

all 3 file managers specified by you are using gio/gvfs API. No wonder it has the same behavior
