Details

I had set SRCPKGDEST in my /etc/makepkg.conf, but the SRCPKGDEST directory did not exist. I got an error which was very misleading. It would be great if makepkg could check if it can write to the SRCPKGDEST, like it does for PKGDEST, and print an informant error msg.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set SRCPKGDEST in /etc/makepkg.conf to path that does not exist.
2. Run makepkg --source

Actual result:

==> Making package: python-dbus-git 20120131-1 (Tue Jan 31 13:53:04 SAST 2012)
==> Retrieving Sources...
==> Entering fakeroot environment...
==> Creating source package...
-> Adding PKGBUILD...
-> Compressing source package...
bsdtar: Failed to clean up compressor
==> ERROR: Failed to create source package file.

Expected result: Maybe something like:

==> ERROR: You do not have write permission to store packages in /home/garyvdm/arch/srcpackage.
