Description:
Without gvfs installed, Evince doesn't seem to remember the previous session (last opened page, etc.). Could gvfs be added as an optional dependency?

this is not true. What is missing is dconf dependency.

You must be right but in my case installing gvfs solved the previous session problem...

I can confirm that without gvfs, last opened page is not remembered, and with gvfs it works.
