Try with calibre 0.8.36 and let me know.

Got the same error with calibre 0.8.36. However, when running it the second and third time, the error disappeared. The error is gone also after unplugging and plugging the phone. Also tried removing ~/.config/calibre and the error is still gone. Let's consider it fixed, for now?
