DetailsThis doesn't seem to break anything at the moment, but in /etc/default/passwd, the CRYPT option is set to des, while in /etc/pam.d/passwd we use sha512. the CRYPT entry in /etc/default/passwd should probably be changed to sha512 for consistency.
