DetailsDescription:
When I press Enter on a .tar.gz or .zip file, then nothing happens (I cannot see the content of the archive). If I delete the mc-ngaba directory in /tmp, an _empty_ mc-ngaba directory is created after pressing Enter. I cannot see anything else, and I cannot debug mc. Additional info: mc 4.8.1-1 Steps to reproduce: This bug always occurs on my machine (the virtual filesystem never works). I tried to remove (rename) the .mc config directory, but it didn't help. However, the bug disappears when I downgrade to 4.8.0-2. |

I just tried it here and entering .tar.gz files works for me, both by pressing enter (which takes me to the browsable directory tree using utar://) and with f3 (displays the content list).
Have you tried (re)moving .config/mc ?
In the old file I can see this:
regex/\.t([gp]?z|ar\.g?[zZ])$
Open=%cd %p#utar
In the new file I can see this:
regex/\.t([gp]?z|ar\.g?[zZ])$|\.ipk$
Open=%cd %p/utar://
Maybe you could mention this in the package install script.
