Details

After upgrading KDE and taking mdnsresponder with it, my DNS resolving became sluggish and slow, sometimes with 2-5 second timeouts.
After stracing tools like ping, I found out it was trying to reach the mdnsd socket, which was not up, because I don't have mdnsd running.

Changing important configuration files like /etc/nsswitch.conf is not wanted.

JGC, if you like you can change that.
Else i look what i can do till the weekend.
I would solve that with an install message then, i took this routine, because it's that what install routine of mdnsresponder does.
