You'll need to run this from X, running it from a terminal outside X won't work.

I've opened gparted sometimes from a terminal with sudo. I used the terminal to test because gparted doesn't run from X neither.

Sorry, has been my fault. I've previously used Gnome, and now I use KDE. If I write:
# kdesu gparted
gparted works.

But the link to gparted on KDE menu use the command:
# gparted-pkexec
and this returns the same error if you put:
# sudo gparted
