I use my laptop a lot to charge my kindle. I am not sure what version I have. Maybe Kindle 3. Tt is definitely one of the newest but not a colour version. So I plug my kindle in and it is detected immediately. I get popup that says open with files or something like that and eject. The only way I can read on my kindle while charging through the usb is by unmounting it. But I when I click the eject button in the notification popup nothing happens. I open up nautilus and press the eject button on the side pane beside kindle and it works. I can also eject properly using calibre, gparted and from terminal.

My flash drives all unmount from this popup without problem. This time around with kindle I press the eject button and the same popup appears again. I press eject again nothing happens. Open nautilus and click eject on side pane and works without problem.

not related to this problem but do you run gnome in virtualbox?

i see Failed to connect to the VirtualBox kernel service
Comment by Conner (quasifilmlie) - Thursday, 29 December 2011, 19:07 GMT
No I use it for Windows and it always works fine.
Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Thursday, 29 December 2011, 19:09 GMT
then why do you have virtualbox-archlinux-additions?

as for your original problem, before pushing eject, can you do a lsof | grep /dev/sdb and see if something is locking the device?

If not, i think that's a legit bug and should be reported upstream
Comment by Conner (quasifilmlie) - Thursday, 29 December 2011, 19:32 GMT
As normal user no output.

Sudoed:

can't stat() fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon file system /home/conner/.gvfs
Output information may be incomplete.

I have arch additions installed because I use arch in a virtual machine because I am testing a new DE called razor.

virtualbox-archlinux-additions is for guest systems, not host. just drop it

you want virtualbox-additions, the iso that can be mounted in window or linux inside guests
Comment by Conner (quasifilmlie) - Thursday, 29 December 2011, 19:40 GMT
My gnome arch is the host. I have a razor arch as a guest along with Windows and a couple of others.

I am going to test gnome 3.3.3 later tonight with mageia before reporting upstream.
Comment by Conner (quasifilmlie) - Thursday, 29 December 2011, 20:05 GMT
Okay I now understand what you mean about the arch additions. They should not be installed on host. Dropping it.

Solved. Reinstalled gnome-keyring.
