DetailsDescription: Cannot install archlinux on older hardware
While booting the archlinux-2011.08.19-core-i686 install system the boot process hangs: ... :: Waiting for UDev uevents to be processed [FAIL] ... :: Triggering uevents... [ 7.606022] ata2.00 exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen ... Or other errors. Three CDs were burned from different downloads and tested with two different CD drives. Additional info: Affected version archlinux-2011.08.19-core-i686. The installer of archlinux 2009.02 runs on the same machine without problems. # dmidecode 2.11 Legacy DMI 2.0 present. 33 structures occupying 1073 bytes. Table at 0x000F597A. then, rhis seems a very difficult and hard bug to fix due to older hardware. i think you should install the working version of archlinux and try to upgrade packages incrementally for searching the kernel/udev/something other package which cause this problem,
If that does not fix your issue, I'm afraid it is something that has to be fixed upstream in the kernel.
