Details

Description: After looking at the PKGBUILD for 'amule'[1] and the latest development information for amule[2], it is clearly being built from the latest SVN revision. Because of this, I think it would make sense to rename 'amule' to 'amule-svn' and then to add `provides=('amule')` to the PKGBUILD.

No. The PKGBUILD uses snapshots, not the svn repo.

True, but the PKGBUILD uses snapshots from the SVN repo rather than using the official releases[3]. It seems a lot more intuitive (at least to me) to use the `-svn` suffix for anything built from SVN (including snapshots) that is not an official release. If I were to install 'amule' from the official repos, I would expect to get stable version 2.3.1 instead of a SVN snapshot.
