Description:
There seems a bug in main stream xfce4-power-manager resetting the LCD screen brightness to default upon reboot.
Suse has a patch for this http://bit.ly/uWXt2p

Additional info:
extra/xfce4-power-manager 1.0.10-2

Steps to reproduce:
Install xfce4 latest on laptop
Reduce the brightness either with brightness applet or laptop function keys
Reboot and brightness will return back as full

Does this happen in other desktop environments? Also, have you tested that patch yourself and did it solved the issue?

My laptop for example, resets its brightness on boot or after a X server restart; it was happening with Gnome as well.
