Can you run gimp in a terminal and post the error message? It works fine here. If webkit is not installed it should ask you if you want to use a web browser instead.

BTW, are you using gimp or gimp-devel?

I filed this bug from my work comp and might have been running gimp-devel. I will post again from there tomorrow.

Running gimp (@home) from terminal gives same error as work:
/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/help-browser: error while loading shared libraries: libwebkitgtk-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

but does give me the option to open to open browser, meanwhile gimp shows a pop-up stating that help-browser crashed and may have messed some internal state and I might want to restart it.

I will report back with info from work computer.

Works here like expected, too. I have no crash or similar.
