New installation with: foomatic-db-1:4.0.7_20110707-1 foomatic-db-engine-1:4.0.7_20110707-1 foomatic-filters-1:4.0.7_20110707-1 net-snmp-5.7.1-1 hplip-3.11.10-2

hp-info (and all other scripts leads to error)

I only added some extra ppd to the packages and 2 other changes that I would consider minor. What architecture are you using? I'll probably need to build some packages and ask you to try them so we could find out what change is causing the problem (I don't have a printer and the package is orphaned).

I'm running x86_64. Version 3.11.10-1 didn't work as well.

What is the locale you are using ?

That simple question is the solution! :-)
I was struggling with locales (empty LC_*) and set them recently to de_DE.UTF8. I didn't check if hplip is affected by this setting but it is. Now, after some minor configuration it runs like a charm.
