This app does not compile with the gtkmm of arch linux, it spits some ATK errors. Maybe the new ATK version you just posted is incompatible with gtkmm libs?

Actually, this is a "bug" in the program itself.
Since pkgconfig 0.17.x, LDFLAGS aren't added recursive anymore. This is done to avoid linking in hundreds of libraries that are never used, solely because some .pc file says it could be useful for a part of a library.

When programming pure gtkmm, adding libgdkmm-2.4, libpangomm-1.4 and libatkmm-1.6 to the required packages in configure.in is required with the new pkg-config.

Programs that link against the gnome C++ bindings don't need this though, since those bindings contain loads of spoiled .la libtool archives that link in all the libraries anyways.

Edit:
The line in configure.in would become this:
PKG_CHECK_MODULES(GTKMM, gtkmm-2.4 gdkmm-2.4 atkmm-1.6 pangomm-1.4)

Then run ./autogen.sh and run make, it should go fine.
