Description:

After logging into LXDE with LXDM, the keyboard doesn't type anything. Only switching with Ctrl+alt+F(1-12) works.

I tested to log into LXDE executing in terminal 'xinit /usr/bin/ck-launch-session startlxde'. Keyboard works normally. It also works when I log in with any other display manager.

It seems that LXDM ignores xorg.conf.d keyboard settings

Tested with USB and PS2 keyboards.

Additional info:
* package version(s): lxdm 0.4.1-6
* config and/or log files etc.

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf (keyboard section):

Section "InputClass"
Identifier "evdev keyboard catchall"
MatchIsKeyboard "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Driver "evdev"
Option "XkbLayout" "es"
EndSection

Steps to reproduce:
- pacman -S lxdm
- Type 'x:5:respawn:/usr/sbin/lxdm >/dev/null 2>&1' in /etc/inittab
- Reboot (or 'init 5')
- Login with LXDM

Does it work when you startx manual?

Sorry, but I can't reproduce your problem. I'm running lxdm exactly as you, except XkbLayout (I'm using "pl"). Can someone else confirm it?

@jelly With a 'xinit /usr/bin/ck-launch-session startlxde' keyboard works normally.

@Barthalion Does your keyboard work normally after login with LXDM?
Comment by Bartłomiej Piotrowski (Barthalion) - Tuesday, 08 November 2011, 14:24 GMT
Yes, without any problems. I checked both USB and PS/2 keyboards.

In my case it didn't. In two fresh installations. The first, following these steps (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Install_from_Existing_Linux) using Tinycore; the second (a reinstallation on the same computer), using the latest dual netinstall ISO.

So, with my descriptions I could discard any hardware or settings' files problem.

Check your xorg log.

I installed Arch in my sister's PC, so I cannot check anything at this moment (sorry). However, I go to her house quite often; then, I will reinstall LXDM, and I will check the Xorg log to compare with a Xorg log generated with GDM or 'xinit /usr/bin/ck-launch-session startlxde'.

I'm back. Well, I have not on my hands my sister's PC, but I installed Arch in another PC (a Dell with a P4) and the keyboard stopped working after installing LXDM.

Anything in logs?

Here is the log of the Dell Optiplex 170L machine.

But now I logged in with LXDM and everything works normally. I don't know how, but it works. May be a missing dependency when installing LXDM at the first time... strangely solved installing GDM.
