Description:

If I'm not mistaken, vala should be added to makedepends in the PKGBUILD, otherwise building the package fails.

Steps to reproduce:
Copied /var/abs/extra/vinagre to /home/user/src/ and ran makepkg.
This fails with the above result unless you install vala.

Works fine in our chroots. The vala files are precompiled and in the source tarball.
Something makes your system believe they need to be recompiled.

You're right. My bad.
I previously built the package with the patch I used for  FS#26780 .
Looks like I didn't clean $srcdir before building the original package.
