DetailsPreamble:
I found this weird bug while debugging a lgob [1] (gobject libs lua bindings) module for vte. At first I opened a bug report on lgob BTS [2], then when found that it was probably a vte3 bug (not sure), also on the gnome BTS [3]. I'm opening an issue also here cause for the moment upstream does not confirm the bug, and i need some other confirmations (lgob developer confirms this on a arch machine too). Description: Compiling and executing the attached C source file vte.c ( head -n1 vte.c | tr -d "/*" | sh && ./a.out) cause a floating point exception when no canberra-gtk-module is loaded. Gnome users does not notice this, cause the canberra gtk module is loaded by default in a gnome session. For a quick test try: $ xinit ./a.out -- :1 # should fail $ GTK_MODULES=canberra-gtk-module xinit ./a.out -- :1 # should work Additional info: * package version(s) vte3 0.30.x Steps to reproduce: $ ./a.out Floating point exception Links: [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=25570 [2] http://oproj.tuxfamily.org/bts/index.php?do=details&task_id=3&string=&project=2&search_name=&type%5B0%5D=&sev%5B0%5D=&pri%5B0%5D=&due%5B0%5D=&reported%5B0%5D=&cat%5B0%5D=&status%5B0%5D=&percent%5B0%5D=&opened=&dev=&closed=&duedatefrom=&duedateto=&changedfrom=&changedto=&openedfrom=&openedto=&closedfrom=&closedto [3] https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=662261 |

I cannot reproduce any more, the bug can be considered closed for me.
