Just had a problem with cdp (console cd player), that required libncurses.so.4 to be present. It works ok with version5 so I would suggest to include this symlik:

24a25
> ln -sf libncurses.so.4 libncurses.so

If other nc4-programs have problems with that, would there be a possibility to install two ncurses-packes (ncurses and ncurses4)?

Sounds like you downloaded a third-party binary file. In that case, we can't necessarily support the library requirements for that binary. Ideally, you could build cdp from source and then it would link to our version of ncurses.

I built cdp from source, actually - you can find my PKGBUILD in AUR. I grepped the sources for any hardcoded paths or something, but without success - it seems to link correct but search for the wrong filename on startup?

Hmm, the problem is that the source tarball already has a built binary in it, so when you run "make" it will just say "up to date".

Try running "make clean" first, then it should rebuild the binary against the proper ncurses library.

pkgname=cdp
pkgver=0.33_13
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="cdp is a console-mode CD player for linux"
url="http://cdp.sourceforge.net/"
source=(http://dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/$pkgname/$pkgname-0.33-13.tar.gz)
md5sums=('f5bcb1d4df3abf3369aff21efd0c8043')

build() {
cd $startdir/src/$pkgname-0.33-13
make clean
make || return 1
mkdir -p $startdir/pkg/usr/bin
mkdir -p $startdir/pkg/usr/man/man1
make DESTDIR=$startdir/pkg install
}
