Description:
The problem is with my DC-1125 webcam chip in ASUS F3Jc laptop. Whenever the cam is turned on, the led on it is turn on too, which doesn't turn off again anymore. The only way to turn it off is restart or shutdown pc. I have reported this bug to upstream, sent the patch, but no response for couple of months so I am posting it here in case you are interested to apply it.
It was tested and approved by another guy who has the same cam.


Steps to reproduce:
Launch and exit any application which starts the cam.

it's in linux kernel, drivers/media/video folder, stkwebcam.ko module. this patch is for stk-webcam.c file. i've been seeing this bug on various forums since 2005 or something, when laptops with this chip started to go in the market and i am amazed that nobody fixed it yet

We dont apply third party patches to our kernel. Did you report it to lkml mailing list?

I sent the patch to all ppl which kernels get_maintainers.pl script showed me.
The driver you gave me link to is not from the linux kernel, although same device. So no, the patch is not for this package. I haven't used that driver.
