the question is why he did commit a patch that is not supposed to be in the release...

patching to add features is excluded from our policy

Shotwell also crashed when I tried to rename an event. I didn't dare to start it again and downgraded.

I just switched it to git master branch. Releases depend on old vala version.

May be I should put old vala into community, but now I am putting updated version from git into community.

All text is readable now (probably it was gtk3 theme problem)

And I can rename event successfully. Please test it.

Hm, there still is problem with event name.

The downgraded version (0.11.2-1) doesn't have plugins to upload to facebook and flickr anymore.

Still doesn't work. Several of my events are called "l2069:63184242" or similar expressions.

Can it be a result of running broken versions of shotwell?

Does 0.11.2-1 works ok and 0.11.4-2 does not?
Comment by Sergej Pupykin (sergej) - Sunday, 16 October 2011, 08:56 GMT
shotwell 0.11.4-2 built without any patches, so if it does not work it is probably upstream issue.
Comment by Dominik (cpcgm) - Sunday, 16 October 2011, 10:13 GMT
But why do you build it from git and not use the official release version?

shotwell 0.11.4-2 built from http://yorba.org/download/shotwell/0.11/shotwell-0.11.4.tar.bz2 without any patches

not from git

I must have tried another version. Mine was called "shotwell-0.11.4-1git20111016". Let me try 0.11.4-2.

Looks good. The plugins are there as well.

0.11.4 is working _much_ better, but if you have an event with several days, it puts the event name, on the first day, and leaves the rest with dates.
This time manually rearranging the items works.
Upstream?
