Description:
The Xorg update to 1.11 prevents me from starting X under Parallels Desktop (Virtual machine for Mac)

Seems related to xf86-video-vesa or xorg-server.
Noticeably, I get the following error:
"vesa: Ignoring device with a bound kernel driver"
which then unloads the vesa module (see logs)

As the message says, the device is already taken by a kernel driver. Are you using a framebuffer console?

I did not change anything in /boot/grub/menu.lst since last time.
I have the following kernel options in menu.lst:
kernel /vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/someid ro

I thought by default it was using kms, do I have to change something?

Can you attach output of dmesg?

Here you are :)

The new version of xf86-video-vesa refuses to load when there's a kernel module assigned to the video device it wants to use. This is correct in case there's a KMS driver assigned, but it seems in your situation the prl_tg driver is assigned, leading to this failure.

Ok,
So it is an issue with parallel-tools then. I saw that xorg 1.11 is not yet supported :(
