My contacts resources is a vcf-files dir. Instead of seeing the contacts' names, I saw the file names (e.g. 0G767FOGnq.vcf 8wvG2zwmZQ.vcf...) and all of the records are seen as empty. The console reported the following:

kaddressbook(12931)/libakonadi Akonadi::PluginRegistry::findBestMatchImpl: Mimetype tree is not a DAG!

I tried to remove that resource and creating a new one with the same settings. Now I get:

kaddressbook(13494)/libakonadi Akonadi::EntityTreeModelPrivate::fetchJobDone: Job error: "Unknown error. (Unable to fetch item from backend)"

In the application window a "waiting" cursor rotates forever near the addressbook name.
A clean user profile leads to the very same problem, so I'm really stuck!
Further, I can't even add contacts manually, nor import them (vcf, csv, ldif...), because kaddressbook inexorably crashes, both with the old and the new profile.

As mentioned in the provided link, the bug showed up after updating to kdelibs 4.7.2-2.
Comment by Andrew Gaydenko (student975) - Tuesday, 11 October 2011, 17:33 GMT
Downgrading to kdelibs 4.7.2-1 doesn't help at my case.
Comment by Andrea Scarpino (BaSh) - Tuesday, 11 October 2011, 17:53 GMT
Do you use some external akonadi resource? (akonadi-google, akonadi-facebook...)
kdelibs 4.7.2-2 fixes  FS#26351 , a bug in Nepomuk queries not related with Akonadi at all.

EDIT: same here! I'm using the akonadi-google resource

@Andrea,

I have POP3 and IMAP accounts only (as well as Local Folders). Yesterday (as well as before) all worked fine. Today I have got the issue. Nothing except for standard official updates.

BTW, I'm not sure issue renaming is strictly valid. Just start to create new book and add contact to it. Though I have observed crypted contacts' names also :-)

Either with a new user or a clean config this bug cannot be fixed.

Anyway, I _guess_ this is upstream since our KDE is vanilla and we only applied this patch as _they_ suggested. I'll report this upstream.

Comment by Andrew Gaydenko (student975) - Tuesday, 11 October 2011, 19:24 GMT
No, it's our (archers') native problem: downgrading to extra/shared-mime-info 0.90-1 resolves the issue :-) Have found just now.
Comment by Giancarlo Bianchi (hermes14) - Tuesday, 11 October 2011, 19:37 GMT
Good work, you found the culprit!
Downgrading to shared-mime-info 0.90-1 solves the issue for me too.
I think KDE guys should be informed of this conflict.
Comment by Andrea Scarpino (BaSh) - Tuesday, 11 October 2011, 19:57 GMT
Is our issue because we're at the most recent version of everything, but is upstream because they've to fix it, not us.

Anyway, is great you found the issue! I'll report it in the next hours, you can do it yourself if you want.
Comment by Andrew Gaydenko (student975) - Tuesday, 11 October 2011, 20:18 GMT
I don't understand interaction between kaddressbook and shared-mime-info packages, so I don't know that clever words to make useful KDE bug report. I'm sure, be more qualified, you will report at more useful for upstream manner :-)

  • Field changed: Summary ([kdepim-kaddressbook] Name of the contacts are crypted → [akonadi] contacts resources crash after shared-mime-info update)
  • Field changed: Category (Packages: Extra → Upstream Bugs)
Confirmed as upstream by the guys of Fedora and OpenSuse too.
