It'd be nice to have a "Vote" button on the detail page of each package. That way one can easier try a package and vote for it if he likes it.

I suppose we could do this, don't think there's too much effort involved.
It's not high priority though, so I'm going to mark this request appropriately.

How else do you vote?

If you're signed in, you should see tick boxes off to the left of each package, tick the ones you want to vote for, then hit the "vote" button in the actions menu. The same thing applies to marking out-of-date, tick and click... hmmm maybe this should go into a little tutorial or something.

"tick and click" catchy isn't it? ;)

Sounds sorta like a sub-genre of tap dancing. ;)

just an FYI, I'm going to have to make larger changes that you think to do this, because currently package_details() only takes the ID of the package as a parameter, it has no idea whether or not the user is actually logged in nor who they are. While I'm mucking about in here, I'm going to make it so that:
a> vote button is only displayed if you are logged in AND haven't voted
b> an unvote button (convenient eh?) is displayed if you're logged in and HAVE voted
c> hey hey, while I'm at it, only comments that you're allowed to delete will actually have the little orange thing appear.
