Reason for closing:  Not a bug

ok nevermind it's not a bug
it's the vanilla philosophy which I like :)
these guys in gtk-sharp are crazy if they think they will ever succeed with gtk and gnome all in one!!

NOT _ A _ BUG
sorry :P

I know, that it must be possible to split that up, and it would make sense, cuz a couple of packages are fine with the gtk only stuff. It's on my priority list somwhere below all the other things.
If you *really* wanna work comfortable with that stuff you will need monodevelop and this pulls in half of gnome anyway. So it really wouldn't make too much sense to split it

I would like to have that one split into 2 or 3 packages, just like they did with python:
pygtk (glib and gtk bindings)
gnome-python (only gnome platform bindings)
gnome-python-extras (extra shit like mozilla, nautilus, panel etc bindings)

I really don't get those guys, I'm programming C++ with gtkmm and gnomecanvasmm and don't need more than those 2 libs. If I would do the same with mono, I would have to install all those libs (not to mention the hell of circular build dependencies sometimes :X

About monodevelop that uses all of them anyways:
gvim and a good Makefile are a very good combination.

I don't work with gtk-sharp. I think M$ all the time :)
I prefer PyGTK and I never thought those guys have it all-in-one!
You guys splitting it breaks the 'vanilla' philosophy of Arch doesn't it?
Anyways some guys some day will understand some things and do them right. atm only PR is done right {think M$ again} :D

well, I see it this way, nice idea, but much hassle. After all, while I
share your argiment on vim and a makefile I still think most of the gkt
base mono apps will somehow pull in gnome stuff, or at least one of the libs which is the probably _not_ in the gtk package. We will se how it works out. I will reconsider if there is a discussion in upstream land.
for now I close it.
