Can we recreate /var/run/samba at each boot in smbd.service?

No, we can't. Arch's samba package can provide the attached file as /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/samba.conf to do this, though

Stupid question perhaps, but shouldn't the file be: /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/smbd.conf
