Hello, currently the redis init script uses 'kill' to stop the process. The recommended way to stop a redis instance is to use redis-cli to send a 'shutdown' command as shown at: https://github.com/antirez/redis/blob/unstable/utils/redis_init_script I've updated the redis-git package to do that (init script attached).
