when i upgrade on of my packages i need to do it with the same dialog like for the initial submit. problem here is that the comments field works in a way that confuses me. instead of modifying the 1st comment (which i already thought was staticly integrated into the package page) does not get overwritten, instead another comment at the end is being created.

i would like to be able to at least change (my own) comments for the package i created to avoid further confusion when i accidently posted rubish.

Reason for closing:  Won't fix
Additional comments about closing:  Editing is too heavyweight for AUR comments. You can achieve the same thing by deleting the comment and adding a new one.

If you'd like to get rid of the rubish you accidentially posted, you may delete your own comments with the orange X on them.

As to the request, I think the current behavior, a new comment, is desirable over editing an existing comment, because this somewhat enforces a sort of changelog, and lets people know that a new version was uploaded, and why.

As to comment editing in general, I suppose this is a feature that could be added if there is enough demand for it.

I'm inclined to keep it simple in the comments; editing might be overkill. If a comment is so long that you can't retype if there's a typo, then it might merit a conversation in the forums or the mailing list instead.

Of course, I do agree that you need to be able to delete your own comments. Assuming this works, I'm content with not being able to edit them.

More thoughts? Happy to hear 'em!

I'm in agreement with Paul on this one. There are enough places for discussion to take place, the AUR doesn't need to be, and isn't intended to be one of them.
